Define the measurements
Translate test objectives into a measurement plan. Identify channels, sensor interfaces, sample rates, accuracy, timing, and live-data requirements before selecting or integrating equipment.
Typical deliverables: measurement list, instrumentation requirements, system architecture, and interface definitions.
Integrate acquisition and telemetry
Connect sensors, signal conditioning, data acquisition systems, recorders, telemetry links, and ground displays. Evaluate existing hardware first and focus engineering on the interfaces and gaps that matter to the test.
Typical deliverables: channel configuration, data-path diagrams, equipment recommendations, and an integration plan.
Verify the complete data path
Check calibration, scaling, time alignment, recording, and display behavior. Exercise representative signals and operating conditions to identify integration problems before the system is needed for testing.
Typical deliverables: checkout procedures, verification records, discrepancy lists, and configuration baselines.
Support testing and data use
Support system readiness, ground and flight-test operations, data retrieval, and troubleshooting. Maintain the relationship between measurements, configuration, and test conditions as the program evolves.
Typical deliverables: operating instructions, data-retrieval workflows, configuration updates, and technical support reports.
